It’s no wonder that fall is everyone’s favourite season! The leaves turn a beautiful colour and it’s finally cool enough to take a walk in the sunshine with a thermos of tea without sweating buckets. Yorkton is an especially beautiful place to experience early fall, with lots of great events happening around town! Check out some of the exciting events happening in Yorkton this September:

Sunflower Art & Craft Market | September 6-7

This awesome market has been happening every September since 1979! Come out to Yorkton’s Gallagher centre for an amazing local shopping experience. You can find paintings, ceramics, photography, custom prints, clothing, home accessories, and much more at this awesome 2-day event. Feeling lucky? Be sure to buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win an amazing raffle basket. A ticket to attend the market is just $5, and all the proceeds from ticket and raffle sales go towards the Yorkton Arts Council’s community programs!

Bringing in the Harvest | September 6-8

This annual event is a local favourite to ring in the new fall season! This pop-up market will feature about 30 vendors selling wholesale or handmade goods to the general public - a great way to shop for some unique gifts and get some great deals! The market takes place at the SIGN building on Broadway and will feature both indoor and outdoor vendors over 3 days. There will also be fun activities throughout the 3-day event, including a pulled pork lunch made by Special Olympics on Saturday and a pierogi lunch on Sunday with proceeds going to a local charity. Free admission to the market, so bring your friends and your reusable shopping bags and get ready for a great weekend!

Annual Outdoor Dragon Boat Race | September 7

The Yorkton Canoe-Kayak Club is bringing back the annual outdoor dragon boat race for the 6th year in a row! Anyone is welcome to participate and all equipment will be supplied. During the race, teams of 10 paddlers and 1 drummer will take to the water for a day of fun, fitness, and healthy competition. Costumes are welcome and encouraged, so put on those tutus and feather boas or go all out with a pirate theme, and be sure to think of a great team name too! Cost of participation is $40 per person. If you’re not much of a boat person, you can still participate in the fun (and stay on dry land) by coming out and cheering on the participating teams!

So if you’re planning a trip in September, why not head over to Yorkton for a countryside getaway that will leave you relaxed and excited for the season ahead. There are so many fun ways to spend September here, and Home Inn & Suites Yorkton wants to add to the sense of fun and relaxation. Stay with us on a Tuesday to check out our guest appreciation night, where we offer a complimentary wine reception in the breakfast room. Or check out our indoor pool and hot tub if you don’t want to let go of summer quite yet!
