The perfect outdoor activity to do during a pandemic, any one of the walks below will allow you to get out in nature, see a different side of the city, and most importantly, stay safe. From a scenic walk through the Ravine Ecological Preserve or a short hike around Logan Green, check out the top three nature trails to explore in Yorkton this summer.

Ravine Ecological Preserve

The Ravine Ecological Preserve, a nature preserve right in the heart of Yorkton, encompasses over 20 acres and features nearly three kilometres of walking trails. From aquatic areas to parkland, there is plenty to explore here, including a frog pond and a 500-foot boardwalk that extends over the water. There is even an arboretum filled with beautiful trees native to Saskatchewan. Keep your eyes peeled for all kinds of flora and fauna that live here. It is an especially great spot for bird watching.

Logan Green Park

Along the south edge of Yorkton is where you will find Logan Green Park. The best part about Logan Green Park is the Hearts in Motion Pathway, which spans six kilometres. This trail is suitable for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. There is also a fish pond, a memorial tree park, and a botanical garden visitors can enjoy here. The Logan Green Trout Pond is ideal for fishermen after some fresh trout.

Saltcoats & District Regional Park

If you’re willing to drive slightly farther outside the city, don’t miss out on Saltcoats & District Regional Park, located 25 minutes southeast of Yorkton. This picturesque outdoor area is home to Leflay Nature Trails, a public hiking trail that winds through part of the park and is roughly four kilometres long. In addition to a walk in nature, remember to take advantage of the swimming areas and boat launch in Anderson Lake.
